Bio
Douglas MacLellan was born in 1959 in Victoria, B.C. He caught the photography bug at age 10 when he encountered a projector-printing device. Subsequently he went to Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario to study photography. Shortly afterwards he started a photography business which continues to this day. He was the official photographer of the Hockey Hall of Fame and Toronto International Film Festival. He created large bodies of work about street children in Toronto, people living with AIDS in Africa and winemaking in Essex County. He has a documentary/photojournalist style and has strong interests in themes of bitter sweetness in daily life and life in defined areas. His stock photography is represented by Agefotostock, Barcelona, Spain.
About the work being presented
The photos on display, “White Horse, Red Necklace” and “Blue Statues, Windsor” are from a large and growing body of work about Windsor made since I moved here in 2003. The work usually comes about from Saturday morning walks from my home to MILK Café and back. I find it interesting how sparsely populated the downtown core is on weekends and often wonder about its possible revival.
The prints are made on 100% acid free matte paper using the inkjet process.
