Peter Olsen was born in London Ontario. Since then he has lived in Belmont, Mt. Pleasant, Toronto, Dundas, Guelph and in Lahr Germany. In his professional life Peter was Head of Art at The Guelph C.V.I. until his retirement when he moved to Windsor with his wife, Wanda. While teaching the history of photography, Peter became enamoured with Edward Weston’s photographic studies of peppers. This, combined with the growing social awareness to consume a less processed diet, vegetables have become a major source of inspiration in the last few years. In addition, Olsen’s developing interest in the optical effects of acrylic glazes to create a visual depth and play has led to his present set of paintings.
