Artist Bio: Ann Roth
Ann Roth is a Windsor based artist who after a career in health care returned to a lifelong love of the visual arts. She currently lives in the Windsor area with her husband and is completing her BFA at the University of Windsor with an interest in mixed media drawing.
“While I have a tendency toward order and organization in my life and work, and strive to complete work that is technically sound, I love the concept of the ‘happy accident’ and embrace it in my own work. When I least expect it, and often when I am struggling with an image, something will happen, like an errant mark or an unexpected combination of colours or materials that create what I think of as the ‘happy accident’ that if recognized and embraced and nurtured will make all of the difference in the success of the image. It intrigues me how what I see in my minds eye can be so clear yet what my hands will create is entirely different. I am fascinated by the potential in the materials that I use, by the creative process itself and by what my own hands will show me next.”
